Transport Options for Trips
When booking transport for your society trip, it is important to consider what options you may have to get your members from A to B in the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to you.
Hire vehicles: Minibuses and hire cares are the most used mode of transport by societies and is our recommendation for trips. Our suggested supplier for minibus hire is Abacus. If you wish to book with Abacus for minibus or car hire, please email
suclubs@bournemouth.ac.uk
Coach Hire: Coach hire is on the expensive side, but a much more cost-effective way for large groups to travel together and means that a member of the society won’t have to drive the vehicle. To make sure you get the best value for your money, we can list your trip on DrivenConnect- a platform that allows coach companies to bid for your journey, meaning that you can save up to 30% on travel costs. Fill out the request form below and a member of our team will be in contact with quotes!
Train/ Public Coaches: Travelling by train or coach is ideal if you are travelling beyond Bournemouth in a small group. It is always best to purchase tickets as early as possible to avoid paying inflated prices and so that you can reserve seating. Before purchasing tickets, always check if members have railcards/ coachcards that can be used for the journey.
When booking trains, we reccommend using Trainline to find the best prices. If booking puclic coaches, National Express coaches go directly from Bournemouth Coach Station (opposite the Train Station in Lansdowne)
Give it A Go
The Give it a Go programme (also known as GIAG) is a great way to give potential members the opportunity to try out your society before they purchase a membership. We have changed the way GIAG's work during Freshers and Refreshers to make it easier than ever for your society to take advantage of the programme.
