This role will support artists leading craft workshops on Saturday 21st December from 10am to 4pm. You will help the workshop participants (adults and families) take part, supporting the artists in distributing materials, and helping participants use new techniques. You will develop your facilitation skills, and have a fun, practical experience, connecting with British solstice traditions.
On Saturday 21st December we are holding two workshops, as part of a larger event celebrating the Winter Solstice. The workshops will be led by experienced artists, but we need your help to ensure the events run smoothly.
Both workshops will help adults and families make lanterns:
The first workshop will run 11am to 1pm. This workshop is suited to adults and children over 10 years old. The lanterns will be made of willow and tissue paper. It can be a messy process, and you will help participants create their constructions, ensuring they have the materials they need at hand.
The second workshop is 2.30pm to 3.30pm and aimed at families with younger children. These lanterns will be simpler in construction but again, we need your help in making sure all participants are fully engaged, and not struggling with any aspect of the task.
The afternoon culminates in a lantern lit procession at 4pm, where we will follow a pipe player into the adjacent woodland, where we will hear folk stories around an open fire. It would be great if you are able to stay for this part, enjoy the stories, and even toast marshmallows over the fire! The day closes at 5pm
