The Old Fire Station

We have a way you can raise £2000 for your club, team or society...

The Old Fire Station have been working away on a Wednesday night fundraising event plan that can enable student groups to raise significant money towards their worthwhile cause - be it a society, group, team or charity.

The idea is simple - we will help you organise your event and the ticket proceeds will be ring fenced and made available for your approved student group to access.

We will:

  • Provide you with a venue, event plan and marketing assistance
  • Be transparent with you at all times about ticket sales, money raised and event plan
  • Assist in planning and running the event, from performers to technical help
  • Give you access to our equipment for DJ’s, karaoke, performers for free
  • Open our digital marketing channels to you for free
  • Provide free graphic design support
  • Transfer the money raised into a student union account for you to access

You will need to:

  • Choose a Wednesday night to host your event at Old Fire Station
  • Come up with a event concept, plan or partnership with other student groups that is able to attract at least 250 people to the event at a ticket price that raises funds for your cause. The maximum we can take is 500, 800, 1200 depending on format.
  • Find a small team of organisers to help you with it and spread the word

It’s really is that simple.

We believe that Wednesdays should occasionally about raising money for student groups to spend on improving their societies, helping teams fund travel or stash, or raising money for important charities. Students Union’s are good at this and the Old Fire Station is run by your SU.

The 100 CLUB

Not ready for such a big event yet - no problem do the 100 CLUB instead. The same concept but in a more compact space - a mini club night for your group up to 100 people. You can still raise funds this way too, more like £hundreds rather than £thousands.

WEDNESDAY KARAOKE PRE CLUB

Every Wednesday a night at Old Fire Station there is a pre club karaoke party from 8pm. You and your groups can book tables to bag the best spot ready for you to bring out your secret shower singers to the stage under the lights.

The Old Fire Station - The UK's Best Student Venue

Probably one of the best Students' Union venues in existence. It threw its doors open in 1995 after crafting 3 dance floors, 4 bars, a stage, 2 DJ booths and a multitude of nooks and crannies into the what was once Bournemouth's central fire station, along with England's longest fireman's pole. SUBU now proudly present a huge range of diverse events from this venue that includes cutting edge club nights, live music tours, massive student party nights and even stand up comedy. All of this is underpinned by the key principle that the profits we make are put back into the Students' Union to improve the student experience at BU.

Friday Night is Lollipop

The longest running night in Bournemouth, dedicated purely to students and always a sell out. Feel free to bring down your friends from home, other unis and AUB to experience the legend that is Fridays at Lollipop. Three rooms of music from cool urban vibes to floor filling dance music bangers, VIP tables are available to be booked in advance and tickets can (and should) be bought in advance. The weekend has landed!

Live Music Tours

SUBU work hard to bring live music events to the Old Fire Station. Live music tours in the venue are intimate, exciting and much more intense than other events we organise. Get to see tomorrows stars on their way up in an up close and personal venue. Previous bands that have stepped out onto The Old Fire Station stage include Ed Sheeran, The Blossoms, The Black Keys, Mark Ronson, Rita Ora, Wolf Alice and hundreds of others.
