Trans, Non-Binary, Intersex and Gender Identity + Officer Candidates
Elm Murphy
Hi, I'm Elm (they/them). Being trans at BU is definitely an uphill battle compared to other unis, and here are a few of the ideas I have to combat some of the common issues faced.
-It's nearly impossible to get your preferred name on your student ID, and I'd work with BU to make it easier for this to happen.
-I want to create an easily accessible forum or discord server for trans students to interact and connect.
-Only three buildings on campus have gender neutral toilets, and so I'd lobby BU to be more inclusive in their buildings.
Kenny Ebuka-Ribeiro
Wether you're out and proud or quietly surviving, I would like to make your life a little easier.
If you choose me as your Trans, Non-binary, Intersex and Gender Identity + Officer I will:
- Attempt to get university IDs to display people's prefered names.
- Make sure the social medias are up to date with resources and guidance on safe gender affirming practices.
- Work with societies to make sure they're providing safe spaces.
- Coordinate with AUB to create the best experience for all identities.
- Advocate for the intersectionality of people's identities.
Levi Flockhart
Growing up as a trans man, I have consistently been a trailblazer for what is right for transgender students in secondary school and college.
As the Trans, Non-Binary, Intersex, and Gender Identity+ Officer, I will:
- Ensure preferred names are used across the board, benefitting the university as a whole.
- Continue the work of promoting the Gender Expression Fund and Gender Affirming Clothing Swaps in order to better support students (and their wallets!).
- Involve more trans students in decisions that directly impact their daily lives on campus, and helping the wider university to understand how they can help.
