The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) are hosting a panel event for local MPs to answer questions from Bournemouth University (BU) students.

The discussion titled ‘SUBU’s MP Spotlight’ will take place on Friday 22 November on Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus. Three local MPs for Bournemouth and Poole will speak directly to university students about the work that is being done in Parliament.

History was made when Labour gained all three constituencies during July’s General Election, beating previous Conservative incumbents.

Jessica Toale (Bournemouth East), Tom Hayes (Bournemouth West) and Neil Duncan-Jordan (Poole) will discuss important issues with BU students, helping them to understand how they will be supported under the new Labour Government.

The debate is being hosted as part of UK Parliament Week, which will take place on 18 – 24 November.

Esther Isiah, President of Students’ Union at Bournemouth University, said: “Through the Students’ Union, we are dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for our students, staff and communities to grow and make a positive difference within the local community and the world around us.

“With a new Labour Government representing us locally and nationally, this event will be a chance for all students at Bournemouth University to question our new local MPs on the work they are doing to support students.

“Students will be encouraged to speak up and question MPs on key issues such as the rising cost of living and wellbeing support.”

SUBU’s MP Spotlight will take place in the Allsebrooke Lecture Theatre on Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus on Friday 22 November at 5.30pm. The event is open to all Bournemouth University students.
