Your Black Students’ Officer, Godswill, has had to step down from the role for Semester 2.
This means we need a new Black Students’ Officer to join the Executive Committee and make a difference for black students for Semester 2.
The Role
As the Black Students’ Officer, you will represent black students at Bournemouth University no matter whether they are from the UK or overseas.
The role includes:
- Attending SUBU's Executive Committee, Summit and Student Members Meeting
- Organising and running events and campaigns for your community
- Helping educate allies to your community
This will equate to approximately 2-5 hours a week.
Previous officers have:
- Organised a Black Student Summer Fiesta
- Worked to address the attainment gap for black students
- Collaborated with VP Education on a Why Is My Curriculum So White? campaign
...to name a few.
You will also be eligible to receive an honorarium payment if you meet certain criteria during your time in post.
How To Apply
To apply for the role, you will need to have self-defined as a black student on the SUBU website and then email subudemocracy@bournemouth.ac.uk by midday (12pm) on Friday 21st February.
A panel made up of a Full-Time Officer and two Part-Time Officers will then conduct short interviews with applicants to decide who is best positioned to lead the Network for the rest of the academic year.
