The Students’ Union at Bournemouth University (SUBU) is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Andy Squire.
Currently CEO at Solent Students’ Union in Southampton, Andy will lead the creation and delivery of a new strategic plan whilst providing support and guidance to the wider team at SUBU.
Andy will bring significant experience in leading Students’ Unions, including his former role at the University for the Creative Arts Students’ Union where he was CEO for over four years.
During his time at Solent Students’ Union, Andy delivered a strategic plan where he was able to improve student satisfaction scores through the National Student Survey by over 20% in the last academic year.
Chike Dike, President of the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University, is excited to welcome Andy to the team.
He said: “Andy has demonstrated a strong track record of delivering on strategy, and we were impressed with his knowledge and experience within Students’ Unions.
“I am confident that Andy will make a fantastic contribution to the lives of Bournemouth University students through his role, and we are looking forward to working with Andy in supporting the university and delivery of a new strategy for the Students’ Union.”
As the new CEO, Andy will work closely with the University, and Andy’s appointment has been supported by Jim Andrews, Chief Operating Officer at Bournemouth University (BU). He said:
“Andy brings a wealth of experience to SUBU, having already led two Students’ Union as Chief Executive. I look forward to working with Andy and welcoming him to the BU community.”
Following the announcement of his appointment, Andy said: "SUBU is an exceptional Students’ Union, and I am excited to be joining the team at such a pivotal time for the organisation.
“I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the Union and University to build on SUBU’s ambitions for an outstanding student experience."
Andy will start his new role at SUBU in August 2024, where he will play a pivotal role in supporting students at Bournemouth University to realise their full potential.
