We are proud to announce that starting today, 11th October, there will be a new bus route to connect BU to Chapel Gate: the U5. This is both a significant victory for the student community and an outstanding achievement for last year’s VP Student Opportunities - Fiifi Asafu-Adjaye.
The U5 comes as the result of Fiifi’s outstanding campaigning alongside SportBU following feedback from students, and it means that BU’s sport facilities are now more accessible than ever.
This new service will connect Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses with the sports facilities at Chapel Gate and will run on Wednesdays during term time from both campuses to Chapel Gate, with no stops in between. You can find the timetable for this service here.
If you have an annual pass, this new service is included in the price. If you just want to use the service occasionally, you can buy 10 trip tickets for £12 through the Unibus app, which you can scan on board, or pay as you go using your contactless card. Unfortunately, cash is not accepted on this service.
This service aims to make it easier for all students to access Chapel Gate. Whether you’re a performance sport athlete or you simply want to support our amazing teams, the U5 is here to make your life easier.
This new route will be operated by an Excelsior coach, so there will be plenty of room if you need to carry equipment. It also means there’s plenty of room if you just want to come along and cheer on your friends!
