Australian rock-band DMA’S have shared a new song titled Something We Are Overcoming from their highly anticipated fourth album How Many Dreams?
The upbeat track has a bit of a techno-pop feel which is down to the backing instrumentals, and overall is three minutes of high energy that you can bop your head along to.
Accompanying the new release is a music video directed by Joel Burrows (Cosmo’s Midnight) and Mclean Stephenson (Alex Cameron, City Calm Down).
Recent tracks from the upcoming album – I Don’t Need To Hide, Olympia, Fading Like A Picture and Everybody’s Saying Thursday’s The Weekend, which has been nominated for the Radio X Record Of The Year 2022 – have made clear the band’s intentions to take down barriers, entangle the broad palette of their collective influences and push to write their most sprawling and ambitious album to date in a period of rediscovery for the band, resulting in a record that is the grand sum of every part of who DMA’S are.
The band appear to be leaning further into their electronic influences, “It started as a moving ballad about perseverance,” say the band. “But quickly morphed into a trancey anthem of a side quest that is slightly but steadily DMA’S. We hope you like it.” Watch the accompanying video here
