Bournemouth walked their way into the fifth round of the FA Cup, beating Swansea 5-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

The Cherries were 3-0 up inside the first 15 minutes thanks to goals from Lloyd Kelly, Alex Scott and Luis Sinisterra.  Goals later in the half from David Brooks and Dominic Solanke made it 5-0 going into the break, their joint-highest first half score ever.

The second half was lacklustre with Bournemouth controlling the game, but it was enough to see the cherries go through to the fifth round of the FA Cup for the first time since 2021.

Andoni Iraola made four changes from the side that were beat 4-0 by Liverpool on Sunday, with Lloyd Kelly making his first start since November. Marcos Senesi, Alex Scott and on-the-night captain David Brooks made their way into the squad. They replaced Justin Kluivert, Chris Mepham and Marcus Tavernier who were all on the bench, and Max Aarons who was injured in Sunday’s game.

The Swans also made four changes with Allen, Tymon, Fisher and Ashby coming in for Darling, Paterson, Rushworth and former Cherry Jamal Lowe, who picked up an injury in their loss to Southampton last weekend.

Nathan Wood picked up the first yellow of the game after pulling back Sinisterra on the left-hand side 35-yards from goal.

The free kick was swung in by David Brooks and towards the back post towards an unmarked Lloyd Kelly, he powered the ball past Andrew Fisher to give the Cherries an early lead.

And just three minutes later they doubled their lead after Zabarnyi played a pass to David Brooks on the right wing. He drove to the byline and cut inside, beating Bashir Humphreys with ease. He cut it back to Scott who tapped home to put the tie beyond doubt.

And after 14 minutes it was 3-0 to Bournemouth. Fisher gave the ball away cheaply to Alex Scott, he played it right to Sinisterra and the Colombian cut inside and drilled the ball into the bottom-right corner.

The next period of the game was dominated by the Cherries, but it would be the away side that would have the next chance after Naughton struck one from range, it beat Mark Travers but struck the bottom of the post, from the rebound the ball was played to Wood, and his shot forced a save out of the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

In the 35th minute Brooks grabbed a goal as Dominic Solanke received the ball and played a through ball that cut the Swansea defence wide open. Brooks stayed composed and slotted the ball past Fisher for his third goal involvement of the game and Bournemouth’s fourth of the first half.

The Cherries made it five just before the break as Christie played the ball through to Sinisterra and past the non-existent Swansea defence. He squared it to Solanke who tapped home. In his celebration he lifted his shirt up to reveal 'R.I.P. DONNA' in support of his teammate Jaidon Anthony. Solanke was booked by the referee for the celebration.

Andoni Iraola would’ve been delighted going into the break but Luke Williams’ side had been very poor in the first half. The only time Bournemouth were 5-0 up at half-time was against Margate in 1971, a game that finished 11-0 to the Cherries.

Iraola made two changes as Kieffer Moore and Milos Kerkez came on for Kelly and Solanke.

In the 53rd minute James Hill went down injured after a nasty slip. He was replaced by Gavin Kilkenny for his first appearance since May 2022 on the final day of Scott Parker’s promotion-winning season.

The Swans also made a change with Yannick Bolasie coming on for Charlie Patino.

Ashby was booked in the 63rd minute for a late challenge on Sinisterra. The Swans received another one for a foul three minutes later, this one for Joe Allen.

That was Allen’s last action as he was taken off for Oli Cooper.

With 20 minutes to go, goalscorer David Brooks was replaced by Marcus Tavernier.

Moore had the chance to make it six five minutes later as the ball was played by Christie to the right-hand side by the corner flag. It was picked up by Tavernier who played it to Cook. The Englishman cut it back for Moore but his shot was blocked.

Fulton was booked for a challenge on Christie, then Swansea made their final changes with Cullen and Ashby being replaced by Paterson and a debuting Filip Lissah.

In the 79th minute, Alex Scott was booked for a foul on Paterson 30 yards from goal. The free-kick resulted in Travers with the ball.

Scott was substituted three minutes later. He was replaced by Dominic Sadi, who scored two screamers for the U21's in their 5-1 win over Wolves in the Premier League Cup on Monday.

The second-half was dominated by the cherries, who spent the majority of it in Swansea's half retaining the ball. The game finished 5-0 and meant that Bournemouth are in the hat for the fifth round for the first time since 2021. They will be number three in the draw which takes place on Sunday ahead of Liverpool vs Norwich.
