The next round of Dorset Premier League fixtures are set to take place and we take a look ahead t the weekend's action.
This weekend looks set to be offering a bumper round of fixtures in the Dorset Premier League.
Blandford United will be looking to carry on from last week’s win over Poole Borough as they welcome a Portland United reserves side aiming to bounce back from a midweek 3-2 cup defeat to Bridport reserves. Blandford’s star man Bradly Pike will be wanting to add his goal scoring tally of seven for the season in the mid table clash.
12th against 13th at Raleigh Road as Sherborne Town Reserves welcome Swanage Town and Herston. Sherborne Town are in fine form going into this fixture coming off the back of 3 excellent wins, the Swans head into the fixture without key man Charlie Brassington.
Bournemouth Sports welcome Sturminster Newton United to Chapel Gate, both sides are in a rich vein of form coming off the back of 7-1 and 6-0 wins respectively. Goals are to be expected in this game with Sturminster having scored 47 goals in 16 games coming up against a Sports side containing the league’s top scorer, Jack Voisey who’s netted 25 in 15 games.
It’s a bottom of the table clash at The Fortress this weekend as Corfe Castle welcome a young Hamworthy United reserve side. The Hammers have lost 6 in a row since their excellent 3-1 comeback win away at Swanage, they will be hoping to come back from the Purbeck area with another 3 points.
Merley Cobham host Wareham Rangers at Cobham Sports Club, it has the potential to be a tough day for 16th placed Wareham as they travel to a side that has scored 25 goals in their last 5 games. This has only been made harder this week following Jack Delves’ departure from Wareham to relegation rivals Hamworthy United reserves.
NERVE SPORT spoke to Wareham manager,Tom Birch, who said: “We are expecting a really tough game, however, I believe in my team and we will give it our best shot.
“We view the game as a learning experience for a young and developing team.”
Derby day at the Avenue, Dorchester Sports will be desperate to continue their six-game winning run when they welcome an inconsistent Balti Sport side. Marco Nott will be hoping his Weymouth-based side can bounce back from three consecutive defeats at the hands of Sherborne, Poole Borough and Shaftsbury.
Third place Westlands welcome Holt United to Yeovil. Westlands will be hoping to forget last week’s disappointing performance and result at the hands of Hamworthy Rec in the DPL with their biggest defeat of the season, 5-1. Holt will also be aiming to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat away at Dorchester Sports last weekend.
Top of the table Hamworthy Rec make the short journey across Poole as they visit Poole Borough. Hamworthy have been in excellent form since their 5-0 defeat to title rivals Merley back in September winning eight and drawing once. Meanwhile Poole Borough will be searching for a much-needed win to propel them up the table.
