Gary O’Neil has said that Burnley will look like “a Premier League team” in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Burnley at the Vitality Stadium.
The Bournemouth head coach also confirmed that there is no updated team new from the side that travelled to Old Trafford, with Neto, Tavernier, Stanislas, Brooks and Fredericks all out, however there will be “a couple of late checks on a couple of starters” from the Manchester United game.
The two sides last faced in last season’s FA Cup with Bournemouth being 2-0 victors, and O’Neil commented on Burnley’s change since Vincent Kompany took charge at Turf Moor.
“They’re a good side they play good football. They look like they’re going to be a Premier League team so it’ll be a tough game for us.”
“I think they’ve moved it along well It’s well coached they’re in a good run of form which isn’t easy in that league”
Bournemouth go into the game without a win in four and have now gone over seven hours of football without scoring a goal, with Jaidon Anthony the last player to find the back of the net in the Cherries’ 3-0 win over Everton before the World Cup break.
O’Neil said: “We haven’t created as many chances for Dom as we would’ve liked”
“We’ve lost one of our most productive players in Marcus Tavernier”
The Cherries’ head coach also confirmed that he would like to reinforce his attacking options in the January transfer window, however he has limited involvement with transfers: “There are a few positions in the squad I would like to strengthen, attacking threat is definitely one of them.”
"We have a way that it works at the football club. I will have a say on how it goes and who comes through the door but my main job is to make sure whoever does come in and the players who are already here re performing at the top of their ability"
