Yesterday’s pre-match press conference for the EFL Championship opener versus West Brom allowed Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker to give update on injuries and team news.
Plenty of speculation has surrounded winger Arnaut Danjuma, but his involvement resumes after recovering from a minor foot injury. As a result, he was unable to feature during pre-season, but Parker has confirmed that the winger has returned to training.
He stated: “Danjuma is back training.
“He has been doing lightwork and getting involved in the team.
“Arnie is our player. I want to do the best by him by getting him fit and up to speed.
“While he is here in our building, we will be using him.”
Full-back Jack Stacey has made a swift recovery following his early departure in the Cherries’ 5-0 victory over MK Dons last Saturday. Despite initial fears over a possible quad injury, Parker appeared calm over the full-backs situation.
He confirmed: “Jack’s not as bad as we thought.
“He’s out on the grass and we’ll make a call on that.”
Summer signing Leif Davis will have to wait further to make his Cherries debut, with Parker revealing “he is carrying a little bit of a knock”. The head coach hopes the 21-year-old will be able to return for next week’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
Parker was also able to advise on the return of midfielder Ben Pearson as a result of suffering from illness.
“He’s back in tomorrow (Friday 06) and picking up his work again. Then we’ll see where he’s at,” the head coach added.
Chris Mepham will also be available for selection after serving a one-match ban, but Jefferson Lerma is suspended.
Both Steve and Lewis Cook remain long term absentees as they continue to recover from knee injuries.
