Reading manager Paul Ince was left disappointed after his side drew 1-1 with AFC Bournemouth saying “It should have been three” points for his side at Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night.
Dominic Solanke had put Scott Parker’s side in front after eight minutes but Tom Ince, son of manager Paul, stepped up to rifle home an equalier in the 82nd minute as Reading dominated the second half.
The Reading boss admitted he was “a good mate” of Parker’s before giving his thoughts on his side’s performance.
“He is a good mate of mine Scotty,” said the former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder.
“We have had a few dinner dates in Portugal when we go on holiday, but listen, we have seen Bournemouth are a fantastic side and you look at the players they have in their team, a lot of players who have played in the Premier League.
“So to come here and play the way we did and dominate the game is pleasing.
“I should not be sitting here saying I am disappointed with a point but I actually am and the players are in the changing rooms but it stops the rot and gives us a lot of belief going into the Blackburn game."
The Cherries never got going in the second and despite a few early chances in the first half, after Solanke’s opener, the Dorset club struggled to break down Ince’s team.
After a 4-0 thrashing to Nottingham Forest at the weekend, Ince felt his players “showed togetherness” and “deserved” their point.
He added: “No one gave us a chance today off of the Forest defeat and thought we would just come and roll over but we didn't and we showed togetherness and showed that we are good players, very good players and deserved the point.”
Reading now face another playoff hopeful in Blackburnand Parker will be hoping his “mate” can do him a favour to deny the Lancashire club points in the hunt for promotion on Saturday.
