Bournemouth Poppies were not able to return to winning ways after losing at Victoria Park to title chasing Brockenhurst 4-2.

The first chance of the game fell to the Poppies as Kyle Graham forced a good save out of Brockenhurst goalkeeper James Mayo in the sixth minute.

The home side controlled the first half but both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances. The best chance of the half would fall to Brockenhurst’s Pat Wilson, but he was unable to finish inside the box from the corner.

Going into half-time, Bournemouth were the happier of the two sides as the controlled play and restricted Brockenhurst to get a foot into the game.

The dominance paid off as Graham put the home side into the lead. Meeting a cross from Sami Garcia, Graham pulled off an excellent acrobatic volley to put it past Mayo.

The lead wouldn’t last long however as in the 56th minute Christie Ward cut in from the left side and placed his shot into the bottom right corner. It was a tidy finish to level the score.

The goals kept coming in the second half with Brockenhurst taking the lead in the 62nd minute as Kieran O’Donnell was ready in the box to fire the ball off the crossbar and in.

Three minutes after that Brockenhurst doubled their advantage with a goal from Mitchell Speechley-Price, who found the top right corner with a beautiful curling finish.

The next chance came in the 79th minute, forcing Poppies goalkeeper Harry Gravett to make a phenomenal double save to keep the score at 3-1.

The away side would seal the win in the 86th minute as Speechley-Price would head home for his second the game.

Poppies managed to grab a consolation goal in the 93rd minute as Garcia poked in from close range.

In what started out to be a good performance from Bournemouth, the away side showed the difference in table positions with a strong 4-2 win.

After the game, Poppies manager Phil Brown told Nerve Sport: “The performance was good, especially in the first half.

“Second half we died off a little bit and few players maybe didn’t put the effort in that we needed”
