Hattrick hero Rowe sees Hammers into quarter finals of FA Vase

Hamworthy United hosted Tunbridge Wells on the February 12 in the FA Vase and continued their fine form beatng the side from South East 3-1 to ptogress to the quarter-finals asTim Sills' side ran out comfortable winners. 

Tunbridge Wells came into the tie at the County Ground full of expetation, but Wessex League side Hamworthy kicked off the game and showed they were up for the fight agaisnt a team ranked higher.

II didn’t take long for the first goal to come and after some initial pressure by the home side, the Hammers opened the scoring. A back-heel pass from Jack Lovell was met by Bailey Rowe who was able to carry the ball into the box and roll the ball past the keeper into the bottom right corner.

Just seven minutes later Hamworthy, made it two after a corner was whipped in by Steve Devlin and Rowe was able to make contact and send the ball into the back of the net after Tunbridge tried to scramble the ball away.

Going into half time, Hamworthy  lead by two goals with both teams showing good energy and Rowe hoping for a hat-trick in the second half.

Tunbridge Wells were showing they could be dangerous on the break, pressuring Hammers goalkeeper Shane Murphy a few times – the ball flew across the face of goal on several occasions but  50 minutes Rowe was able to complete his hat-trick.

After another corner for the home side and after positioning himself in front of the away side's keeper, Rowe was able to tap the ball in for his and the teams third goal.

At this point the game had been put to bed but Tunbridge Wells fought to the last and were able to grab a late consolation goal in the 91st minute after a good strike from striker Matt Gething.

Hamworthy wil face Southall FC on March 12 but are next in action against Bournemouth Poppies at the County Ground on Tuesday 15th February.
