Hamworthy United's fantastic start to the season continued with yet another win as they beat US Portsmouth 3-0 at Victory Stadium

Hamworthy took an early lead through Max Wilcock just 11 minutes into the game, the striker netting his eighth goal of the season.

37 minutes in, US Portsmouth had a great chance to equalise, but the ball rattled the crossbar and bounced off the line and back into play. Then just before the half-time break, things got worse for the home side. US Portsmouth's Connor Saunders was shown a yellow card, and subsequently show his marching orders.

Adam Costello then rifled home a free kick for the visitors to put the Hammers 2-0 up and well in control of the match

After a quiet start to the second half, Hamworthy made it 3-0.  Max Wilcock scored his second of the game from a corner and made sure the Poole-based side would take all three points back to Dorset.

With the full-time whistle, Hamworthy continued their climb up the table and now sit third, just four points off top of the table Brockenhurst with three games in hand.

After the game, Hamworthy Manager, Tim Sills spoke to NERVE SPORT: “The performance was very pleasing considering how many away games we have had recently and the extensive travelling and the injuries we have picked up.

“We were mentally strong enough to make sure that we didn’t let ourselves down, that we maintained our standards and stayed professional.

"It’s important for us now that we protect our squad.”
