Hamworthy United continue their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-1 draw against Shaftesbury.
Hamworthy United travelled to Shaftesbury and faced some tough competition to keep their unbeaten league run going.
The opening goal came from Hamworthy striker Max Wilcock who scored 14 minutes into the game. A cross from Eddie Hodge on the right-hand side to an unmarked Wilcock put the Hammers into an early lead.
Not long after, with 25 minutes gone, Shaftesbury equalised with a goal from Ashley Pope. A delightful ball from Luke Delaney which was then set up nicely by Greg Peel and smashed home by Pope.
When the whistle blew for halftime the teams were level at 1-1.
Both sides had some good chances in the second half. however, neither could quite find the back of the net and the game ended in a stalemate.
A fair result according to Hamworthy goalkeeping coach Ben Sullivan, who spoke to NERVE SPORT after the game; “We started off brightly and Shaftesbury initially struggled to deal with our movement, especially on the flanks where we got our first goal.
“It’s fair to say we gave away too many silly little free kicks which is where their equaliser came from in the corridor or uncertainty - it was a fair result in the end.
“This game was a great advert for football, not the most skilful, but it was blood sweat and tears and a proper ding dong battle."
