post-match reaction from Hamworthy United's 0-0 draw with Blackfield and Langley on Saturday 27 November
Hamworthy United hosted Blackfield and Langley at the County Ground on Saturday afternoon – in a match heavily affected by the wind caused by Storm Arwen.
It was a frustrating game that was expected to have chances upon chances, with both teams in high scoring form. Each side has several players who have scored 10 goals or more with Gerson Da Costa Ramos netting 18 times for the visitors this campaign whilst Matthew Neale tops the Hammers scoring charts with 13.
The first half was an even affiar in terms of possession with both sides having good chances but neither side was able to break the deadlock.
The second half was much of the same as the two teams played out a goaless draw in bitterly cold conditions.
After the game, NERVE SPORT spoke to Hamworthy United goalkeeping coach Ben Sullivan, he said: “I just don’t think it worked out today, I think the wind was a leveller, but credit to the opposition I think Blackfield came with a plan.
"I thought we played quite well but we never really got to the level we needed to win the game."
NERVE SPORT also spoke to Hamworthy defender Tony Rolls: “We didn’t perform in the first half, the second half we were better but, it’s disappointing but it’s still a point and we are still unbeaten."
The drawe keeps Hamworthy third in the table with three games in hand on both Horndean and Brockenhurst above them. Horndean are six points clear of Tim Sills side at the top of the table whilst Brock are four points clear of the Hammers in second.
Next up fot the Hammers is Alresford Town who visit The County Ground on Tuesday 30 as the Poole-based club look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
