It didn’t take long for the first goal to come, with just four minutes on the clock as Eddie Hodge made a clean pass to put Wilcock through on goal. The hammers striker smashed the ball past the Amesbury keeper to give the home side an early lead.
The away side had some chances but Hamworthy dominated a first half which ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
Just five minutes into the second half, Hamworthy doubed thier lead through captain Francis. Harvey Wright found Matty Neale in a wide position before Neale laid a pinpoint cross for Francis to head past the keeper.
At the 62nd minute mark the game was out for reach for a struggling Amesbury side. Hodge and Wilcock linked up again and Wilcock slotted home for his second of the game putting the Hammers in a commanding position.
Then with six minutes left of the game Hamworthy made it 4-0. Neale dribbled past his man to then chip the ball over to Lovell who put the ball away to end a comfortable win for Tim Sills side.
After the game,NEVRE SPORT spoke to Hamworthy Goalkeeping Coach Ben Sullivan, who said; “It was a resounding win at home against Amesbury.
"Everyone was expecting us to beat them, which in the end we did, we won quite comprehensively and dominated possession.
"To be fair, they worked right till the end and they defended resolutely, but yeah, all in all, a decent performance that we want to build on and keep the momentum at this stage of the season.
"It's about ticking those games off and putting points on the board, which we achieved today and I thought it was a good all round performance on the back of a frustrating performance midweek against Alton”.
Hamworthy’s face Amesbury in the return fixture on Tuesday February 1 in a double header between the two sides.
