Hamworthy United continue their fine start to the season, stretching their unbeaten run to 11 games as they continue to catch league leaders Brockenhurst.
On Tuesday Hamworthy United travelled to Southampton to play Hamble FC in the Wessex Premier Division. It turned out to be a dominant display by the Hammers as they emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over the Monks.
The first goal came 21 minutes into the game as Hamworthy midfielder Lee Francis scored a follow up volley after a shot from Drew Eccott-Young was blocked by the Hamble keeper.
The second came late on in the first half just before the half-time whistle. Hammers striker Jaime Beasley struck one from long range and his effort bobbled over the Hamble 'keeper to double the away side's lead.
The match ended 2-0 to Hamworthy and goalkeeping coach, Ben Sullivan, spoke to NERVE SPORT after the game: “We pretty much controlled the first half and had the lion's share of possession against a Hamble side that was content in playing a defensive game and trying to hit us on the break.
"In the second half neither keeper had a great deal to do, but their keeper was the busier of the two, but we managed the game."
Hamworthy sit second in the table and continue thier unbeaten start to the campiagn and are now just five points behind Brockenhurst with three game sin ahnd on the Badgers.
The Hammers attention now turns to the FA Vase where they travel to Bristol to face Cadbury Heath in the first round proper on Saturday 23 October.
