Newcastle looked to threaten early on the visitors pressed and kept the cherries penned in their own half.

However, a spell from the hosts saw the first effort on target; a good cross from Jaidon Anthony found Dominic Solanke and his header forced a save from Nick Pope.

On 30 minutes the Cherries finally opened the scoring with Marcos Senesi.

Dango Outtara flicked on a corner for Senesi at the far post and the Argentine poked home to score his first of the season.

Moments later it could have been two, Nick Pope was called into action again as Solanke’s header was on target.

The addition of Anthony Gordon for Joe Willock helped the visitors; especially in terms of creativity.

In the dying moments of the first half Longstaff was found with space on the edge of the box, his shot was saved only for Miguel Almiron to fire home the rebound and level the match just before half time.

The second half started similar to the first.

Newcastle had the possession, but Bournemouth were looking dangerous on the break.

Bournemouth had a chance to retake the lead as substitute Marcus Tavernier was found in a dangerous area, he failed to capitalise as his shot was claimed by Pope.

Newcastle could have taken the lead with 20 to go.

Neto parried the ball in his 6-yard box, Anthony Gordon gambled with a chance but hit wide.

There was something to worry about for Newcastle fans as goal scorer Almiron came off clutching his wrist.

Their worries deepened as Allan Saint-Maximin limped off the pitch assisted by the physio moments later.

On the 90th minute, Bournemouth thought they’d won it.

Solanke had a backheel cleared off the line by Magpies captain Kieran Trippier.

Seven minutes were added but the score remained level but it looked like either side could win it.

Bournemouth gain a valuable point in their bid for safety, while Newcastle increase their gap over Tottenham.
