Manchester United escaped the Vitality Stadium with a point following an entertaining 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Dominic Solanke scored his 17th Premier League goal of the season to put the Cherries 1-0 ahead.

Bruno Fernandes equalised for United, before Justin Kluivert deservedly put the home side back ahead before the break.

However, Fernandes levelled the score against the run of play once again to earn a point for the RedDevils.

United boss Erik Ten Hag responded to questions about the team’s intensity and motivation, as he said: “Don’t question their motivation, they were motivated, but the organization was not right.”

Cherries manager Andoni Iraola was pleased with the performance of his players, but not that of the referee, he said: “The penalty against Adam Smith was harsh, but it wasn’t just that.

“There was no consistency with the decisions throughout the game.”

Ten Hag named an unchanged line-up following Manchester United’s 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool last time out.

Meanwhile, Andoni Iraola made three changes to his side after they lost late on at Luton last week. Dango Ouattara, Luis Sinisterra and Marcos Senesi all came into the starting 11.

The game started quietly, with neither side stamping their authority.

However, 16 minutes in, Dominic Solanke decided he would put it upon himself to take control of the game.

Willy Kambwala should have dealt with a ball forward comfortably, but Solanke bullied him off the ball, cut inside and from the edge of the box found the bottom left corner.

The Cherries dominated for the next 15 minutes, coming close to a second goal on a few occasions.

Despite the home side creating all of the opportunities, it was United who scored the game’s second goal in the 31st minute.

Marcus Rashford found Alejandro Garnacho on the right-hand side who put it across the box to Bruno Fernandes and from 5 yards out, he smashed it into the roof of the net.

Just five minutes later, Bournemouth regained the lead. Marcos Senesi passed the ball out to Justin Kluivert in acres of space on the left-hand side, just outside the box.

Kluivert turned into the box, faced up the United defence and fired a powerful right-footed shot into Onana’s near post.

More chances followed for both teams before the break in what was an exciting encounter.

The crossbar was struck twice, firstly by Milos Kerkez who headed against the woodwork and secondly by a thunderous effort from 25 yards out by Fernandes.

Half time: Bournemouth 2-1 Manchester United.

The second half continued in the same fashion as the first.

The away side lacked any real intensity, being outfought, and outclassed by the Cherries.

Somehow, once again the Red Devils managed to equalise against the run of play.

Adam Smith handled the ball inside the box, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.

Fernandes calmly slotted the penalty away to level the score at 2-2 in the 65th minute.

With the game petering to an end, Bournemouth mounted one last attack.

In the 95th minute, Christie charged towards the box, knocking the ball past Kambwala, with the latter taking him out.

Referee Tony Harrington belatedly pointed to the spot. However, United were saved by a lengthy VAR check, which concluded that the foul was committed outside of the box.

Full time: Bournemouth 2-2 Manchester United.

The result leaves Man United 7th in the League having won just one of their last seven Premier League games.

Meanwhile, for Bournemouth, it means they remain 12th in the league, with a comfortable gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
