AFC Bournemouth snatched a late winner away to Blackpool F.C. as Siriki Dembele scores with the last kick of the game on his first start.
In what was an important match for Scott Parker’s Bournemouth away to Blackpool F.C., January signing Siriki Dembele scored a 95th minute winner in what ended as a thrilling 2-1 victory for the Cherries.
Jamal Lowe was also on hand to score a crucial goal in the 86th minute to give Bournemouth the chance to push for the vital three points.
The game came at a point where Bournemouth were now reinforced and with a win under their belt. It was important they carried the momentum from the home win to Birmingham in midweek and widen the gap from promotion rivals Blackburn.
Both sides enjoyed their fair share of chances in the first half with the contest end to end and forcing both Mark Travers and Daniel Grimshaw into good saves.
Top goal scorer Dominic Solanke was denied his 21st goal of the season as Grimshaw pulled off a save from the penalty spot in the 27th minute.
The game took a turn for the worse as the Cherries then conceded courtesy of a brilliantly finessed effort from Josh Bowler in the 37th minute. The Tangerines went in at half time with a 1-0 lead.
The second half restarted as expected with the game at a high intensity and both teams looking to get the next goal of the game.
Mark Travers continued to prove his value and reliability with multiple top-quality saves to deny the home side doubling the lead. Making the difference as he has done so on many occasions so far this season.
Bournemouth continued to push despite having their goal vulnerable and secured what would be a crucial equaliser from Lowe. Alert in the box, he poked home a deflected cross from Todd Cantwell to give them hope.
It was special scenes in the 95th minute as Dembele scored what was virtually the last kick of the game inside the box, with celebrations showing how much the win meant to the Cherries.
With a game in hand on Blackburn who sit five points behind Bournemouth, they will be feeling a lot more comfortable about where they are.
Mark Travers again made the difference with a man of the match performance in what was a tightly contested match.
