3-1 defeat for Christchurch as they fail to beat 10 man Hamble United in the Wessex Premier League.
It was an away trip to forget for Christchurch as they failed to beat 10-man Hamble at The Abbey.
Before the 3pm kick-off, the big talking point was the return of former Hample player Callum Kitcher to the club, who had previously made fourteen appearances for the Monks.
Christchurch would have the first big chance with a freekick in the 24th minute after a Jamie Cassell foul. Eder Baptist’s effort would be well held by Hamble’s keeper Callum Lee.
The dynamics of the game changed when Cassell made a poor tackle which would result in the number 10 being sent off in the 37th minute and leave Hamble with a player down.
At 0-0, it was all to play for going into the second half, but Christchurch would have hoped they could make use of the extra man.
The game continued to go end to end with both sides creating chances, but the contest would liven up in the 83rd minute when Hamble’s JJ Burgess produced a great long-range effort to take the lead.
Hamble continued to apply pressure, and in the 93rd minute Burgess landed his second of the game after a penetrating run in behind the defence.
Christchurch game themselves hope for a point as they replied only a minute after with Stephen Gilbert meeting a cross into the box.
Hample would however confirm the victory after a dangerous counterattack resulting in a Braydon Douglas goal on his debut.
Christchurch remain in 19th position in the Wessex League Premier, and the Church will next play Portland United at home on Saturday 19 February.
