Head coach Scott Parker has provided the latest team news ahead of tomorrow night’s big fixture at home to fellow promotion chasers Nottingham Forest.
News has been confirmed on the Kiefer Moore injury he attained on his first appearance, as he came on in the 3-1 victory to Birmingham. The Welshman underwent surgery on Monday and will now be out for between 8-10 weeks with a broken foot. Parker was not shy in stating he was ‘heartbroken’ for Moore as only five minutes into his Bournemouth career he will not be out for a long period.
Positive news regarding Ryan Christie following his meeting with a specialist earlier this week. Despite initial thoughts on the quad injury picked up during the Birmingham victory, the results have come back better than first hoped. The Scotsman’s progress will be reviewed over the next 10 days.
Adam Smith continues to be absent after picking up a recurring knee injury at the backend of 2021. Parker stated he is on the right track but was unable to confirm a time scale.
Veteran centre back Gary Cahill will also be unavailable for selection as he continues to struggle with a knee injury. Treatment is in process, and they expect the 36-year-old to return to training from Monday.
January signing Ethan Laird has yet to put on the Bournemouth jersey due to his hamstring recovery having picked up a setback in mid-January. Parker confirmed he is on the right track, but tomorrow night will be too soon for the youngster.
The current list of injuries and suspension of Jefferson Lerma has showed how important the business done in January was in making sure the squad was not overly stretched. Had this number of injuries come at a different point then there would perhaps be further cause for concern, but as it stands the head coach has a strong squad available for what will be a very tough tie for the Cherries.
