AFC Bournemouth secured a huge 2-0 win against a ten man Arsenal side on Saturday evening, in what was an eventful Premier League clash.

Second half strikes from Ryan Christie, and then Justin Kluivert were enough for the Cherries to take all three points, with the Dutchman's goal coming from the penalty spot after Evanilson was brought down by David Raya.

Arsenal had been reduced to ten men midway through the first half, William Saliba given his marching orders after it was deemed he had denied Evanilson a clear goalscoring opportunity, bringing down the Brazilian striker as he raced through.

The result sees Andoni Iraola's side climb up to 10th place in the Premier League table, whilst Arsenal remain 3rd in the league after their first defeat of the campaign.

The Gunners, who were missing Bukayo Saka due to injury, looked strong from the start, dominating possession early on.

However, despite Arsenal’s early control, Bournemouth slowly grew into the match, led by the energetic Antoine Semenyo and the creative spark of Marcus Tavernier.

The Gunners had opportunities of their own, with Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling looking dangerous in attack, but they were unable to break down a resolute Bournemouth defence.

Saliba’s sending off for a foul on Evanilson rattled the Gunners, and from that point on, the game shifted in Bournemouth's favour.

Christie broke the deadlock in the second half with a brilliant strike from outside the box, and Kluivert added a second from the penalty spot, after a mistake by Jakub Kiwior left Raya exposed.

Arsenal tried to fight back, but the combination of Bournemouth's growing confidence and the numerical advantage proved too much.

It was a massive result for Bournemouth who took advantage of the extra man in the second half, whilst Mikel Arteta's side are left to reflect on a frustrating evening.
