An 89th minute Kalajdzic goal meant that Wolves beat Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium, after a controversial Lewis Cook red card in the second half in a game that saw Gary O'Neil haunt the side that sacked him in the summer.

The Cherries took the lead through a lovely Dominic Solanke finish, but a dominant second half performance from the visitors saw them leave Bournemouth with all three points

The most controversial point in the game came in the 54th minute when Lewis Cook was sent off for a headbutt on Hwang Hee-Chan.

The result means that Bournemouth stay in the relegation zone, two points adrift from safety after nine games.

O’Neil made two changes from the side that drew to Aston Villa before the international break with Doherty and Traore coming in for Semedo and a suspended Mario Lemina.

The highlight of Andoni Iraola’s squad was the debut of Alex Scott. The midfielder was in the starting eleven for the first time since his £25 million move from Bristol City. Elsewhere there were plenty of changes from the 3-0 loss to Everton with Smith, Christie, Ouattara and Senesi all dropping to the bench and Aarons, Kelly and Brooks all returning to the side.

Bournemouth started the better of the two sides, seeing plenty of the ball in the Wolves half. They came forward in the 5th minute and Brooks got the ball inside the Wolves penalty area, but his shot was straight as Jose Sa.

In the 6th minute Wolves struck the bar as Pedro Neto cut inside from the right an unleashed a powerful shot that beat Neto, but the Brazilian was saved by the woodwork.

But it would be the Cherries that took the lead in the 17th minute with a move that started with some lovely play from Neto, Scott and Philip out from the back. David Brooks had the ball on the right-hand side of the penalty area, Philip made an overlapping run on the wing and cut the ball back to Dominic Solanke, who provided a skilful flick past Sa to give Bournemouth their second home goal of the season.

The visitors looked more dangerous after the goal and had a couple of chances around the half hour mark. In the 33rd minute Zabarnyi was caught out of position and Wolves broke forward. Pedro Neto cut inside and tried to bend the ball into the top corner but the shot didn’t trouble Bournemouth’s Neto.

Two minutes later Cunha went down screaming and holding his hamstring after a challenge by Zabarnyi, but replays showed that the Ukrainian didn’t make a lot of contact with the forward.

Goalkeeper Neto was booked in the 42nd minute for time wasting, the Brazilian’s fourth of the season. Five minutes later Scott and Kilman were both booked for late challenges.

Andoni Iraola’s side were leading at half-time for the first time in his Premier League career, and the Spaniard’s side had deserved their lead going into the break. Gary O’Neil wasn’t happy with how Wolves had performed, with Pedro Neto being the only danger to Neto’s goal.

O’Neil made a change at the break, with Joao Gomes coming off for Tommy Doyle.

The visitors came flying out the blocks in the second half and scored inside five minutes. Neto drove forward and played the ball into Cunha who was just inside the penalty area, and the forward powered it past Neto who had no chance. Iraola looked furious with his defence, wondering how Neto had been given so much space to drive into.

In the 54th minute Bournemouth went down to ten men. Lewis Cook committed a foul on Hwang Hee-Chan which led to the two coming face to face. The Korean threw himself to the ground in theatrical fashion after Cook seemed to lunge towards the forward and Paul Tierney showed the red card. Hee-Chan was also booked for the altercation.

Bournemouth made their first changes minutes later as Scott and Brooks made way for Christie and Rothwell.

Wolves were making the most of the man advantage, being completely dominant with the ball and not really showing Bournemouth anything. They should've taken the lead in the 65th minute when Doherty crossed the ball to Cunha, the Brazilian should've at least put his effort on target six yards from goal, but it went well wide.

Wolves continued their onslaught and again should've scored as a shot from Pedro Neto was parried by Neto into the path of Hee-Chan, the Korean should've buried it but he fired well over.

Both teams made a sub with 15 minutes left to go with Gomes making way for Sarabia, and Ouattara coming on for Tavernier.

Five minutes later the visitors were running rings around Bournemouth down the left-wing and once again should've gone 2-1 up as Ait-Nouri crossed the ball to Neto, and the forward blasted over.

Both teams made their last changes as Cunha went off for Kalajdzic, and Bournemouth made a double change as Moore and Senesi replaced Kerkez and Solanke.

Bournemouth showed some fight in the last five minutes when Ouattara had a great battle with Doyle on the left wing, the Ivorian won and played the ball to Rothwell, who's shot was blocked.

But Wolves' dominant play was finally rewarded in the 89th minute as Billing gave the ball in his own half, the ball fell to Hwang Hee-Chan who played it through to Kalajdic who slotted the ball home very well.

The result means that Bournemouth stay in the relegation zone in 19th, two points adrift from safety. It also means that Iraola is still without a win in the Premier League, with Sheffield United the only other team to be winless so far this season.
