Two late goals from Badiashile and Felix saw Chelsea win 3-1 against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, with the Cherries unable to mathematically secure survival.

Chelsea took the lead inside the first ten minutes through Conor Gallagher, however Matias Vina's wonderful strike drew the Cherries level, but it wasn't enough to stop Frank Lampard from winning his first game as Chelsea's interim manager

Gary O’Neil named an unchanged side to the team that thrashed Leeds 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium last weekend. Chelsea made five changes from their 3-1 loss to Arsenal midweek, with Azpilicueta, Fofana, Kovacic, Sterling and Aubameyang making way for Badiashile, Chalobah, Gallagher, Mudryk and Kai Havertz. The German made his first start for the Blues since the second leg of their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Bournemouth had the first chance inside four minutes when Vina linked up well with Billing and found himself in the Chelsea box, but Arrizabalaga blocked his cross from a tight angle.

Lerma came close minutes later after Christie drove into the Chelsea half, playing it to Billing who laid the ball off to the Colombian 25 yards out, his shot beat Arrizabalaga but was inches wide.

Despite Bournemouth’s early pressure it was the visitors who scored the first goal in the ninth minute as an N’golo Kante cross found Gallagher in the box and the England international guided the ball past Neto to give the Blues the lead. The goal led to chants of “we’re staying up” from the away fans.

Mudryk was booked for simulation in the 15th minute after going down inside the penalty area, much to the amusement of the Cherries fans.

The visitors picked up their second card minutes later as Kante was shown a yellow for stopping a promising counter attack.

The Cherries equalised in the 21st minute as some lovely play by Vina Christie and Solanke saw the Uruguayan break into the Chelsea box and he release a lovely shot with his weak foot into the far corner, curling the ball past an outstretched Kepa to draw Bournemouth level.

Madueke showed promise for Chelsea on the right, gliding past Vina before dragging the ball into the side-netting with a very poor effort.

Christie was the next Bournemouth player to come close, heading just past the post in the 32nd minute.

Neither team created any chances for the rest of the half, with the score at the break 1-1. Chelsea were on top, especially down the right-hand side with Madueke being the bright spark for the Blues but lacked an end product like they have done all season. Bournemouth looked good with the ball, very dangerous on the counter and were playing some quick football that led to Vina’s stunning strike, but Gary O’Neil’s side hadn’t seen much of the ball in the first half, having 35% possession at the interval.

At half-time Bournemouth’s youth team collected their medals for their success in the EFL Youth Alliance League with the trophy being lifted by Cherries captain Lewis Brown.

The opening stages of the second half had little to report, with Badiashile nearly turning the ball into his own net ten minutes in being the first thing of note.

Bournemouth started piling on the pressure, with Ryan Christie bursting into the box and releasing a shot that sailed into the Cherries fans.

In the 57th minute Bournemouth made their first change of the afternoon, with Rothwell being replaced by Lewis Cook.

Chelsea made their own changes five minutes later with Mudryk and Kante, who was at risk of being sent off after his first-half booking, being replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Raheem Sterling, with the latter being booed on by his own fans.

Badiashile was booked in the 65th for a late challenge that left Ouattara on the floor. The Burkina Faso international was okay to continue after receiving medical attention

A VAR check took place after Thiago Silva brought down Dominic Solanke in the area, however to the surprise of the Bournemouth fans and probably the Brazil international himself, no penalty was given.

After the claim Bournemouth were dominant, with Vina getting in behind the Chelsea defence and forcing a good stop from Kepa. With 20 minutes to go it was only Bournemouth that looked like scoring.

Chelsea made two more changes in the 75th minute with Ziyech and Azpilicueta replacing Madueke and an injured Ben Chilwell.

Havertz, who had been quiet all game, had a great chance when Ziyech found him free in the penalty area, but his header went well wide.

Dango Ouattara had a great chance at the other end minutes later when Lerma headed the ball across to him, but his header cleared the crossbar.

Despite Bournemouth's domination it was Chelsea who would grab the next goal as Hakim Ziyech's wonderful cross found Badiashile, and the Frenchman found the back of the net with his left foot in an attempt which Neto will feel he should have saved.

Both teams made changes straight after the goal with Gary O'Neil replacing Billing and Christie with Semenyo and Anthony, and the Blues switching Kai Havertz for Joao Felix.

Chelsea sealed all three points minutes later when Sterling played the ball to Joao Felix, and the Portuguese international placed the ball past Neto to secure survival for the Blues.

The final change came in the 90th minute as Solanke made way for David Brooks.

The result means that the Cherries still aren't mathematically safe with three games left to play. Gary O'Neil's side play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park next weekend.
