AFC Bournemouth Head Coach Scott Parker has provided an injury update ahead of their away trip to Bristol City this Saturday.
The football world was saddened following yesterday's news that winger David Brooks has been diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma. In a statement posted via his Twitter account, the 24-year-old announced the diagnosis and that he is due to begin treatment from next week. Nerve Sport sends their best wishes to David and his friends and family.
Looking across the squad, Parker confirmed there are no new football related injuries following the international break.
Midfielder Lewis Cook continues to progress well after his long abscence. The international break gave him an opportunity to play his first 45 minutes since March, featuring in the Cherries under-21 Premier League Cup tie versus Arsenal. Cook came through the game well, and Parker is happy with his development. Yet, there is no definitive time-scale as to when it can be expected he will feature amongst the squad.
The news of Junior Stanislas is again positive, with the winger also on the right track. The 31-year-old has been training well, and is up for contention to be a part of the matchday squad this Saturday. Parker is yet to make the call, but looks likely to be safe and ensure Stanislas is up to full fitness, with a good enough depth in his squad to allow Stanislas the time he needs.
