AFC Bournemouth and the club's fans showed their support for attacking midfielder David Brooks who has recently been diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma
The visit of Hddersfield on Saturday was AFC Bournemouth’s first game at the Vitality Stadium in which the home fans could show their true and full support for David Brooks who had recently been diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin Lymphoma.
the two teams showed their support in the pre-match warm up with both sides wearing ‘BROOKS 7’ t-shirts over their normal training wear.
After the warm up a video was played out to the stadium in which all of David’s teammates voiced their support. The video was followed by a minute’s applause from both Bournemouth and Huddersfield fans seven minutes into the game before the Cherries went on to win 3-0.
Brooks was also the cover star of the match day programme with the Cherries going on to mark the day with an impressive 3-0 wine over the Terriers.
After the game, Cherries boss, Scott Parker, said:
“It was the first time that our home fans and us as a football club in this stadium could show our support for David.
"He started his treatment yesterday, I think it was evident from the moment David was diagnosed he has a football club and a group of people that dearly love him and that will support him all the way through this challenging time and I’m sure David will be watching from home and feeling that support”.
