We work closely with Beryl Bikes who are part of a specific national scheme to provide hire bikes and hire e-scooters to the Bournemouth Area. It's easy to download the Beryl App and hire a bike or scooter to travel sustainably to and from campus and around Bournemouth. It's a great way to get fresh air and quicker than walking. You can find Beryl bikes in the bay at the back of the library on Talbot Campus, and details of other bays can be found on the Beryl App. You can find more information about Beryl Bikes here.
We work closely with Trussell Trust Food Bank in Boscombe, and last year, students donated over 232kg's of unwanted unopened non-perishable food items before they left fo the summer. This helped to feed people and families in crisis. You can find out more about the Trussell Trust Food Bank here.
SUBU collects hygeine donations from staff and students to donate to the Bournemouth Hygeine Bank as part of a student led campaign and our wider Big Give campaign. Check back for updates on donation over the 2021 Christmas period.
SUBU partners with Faithworks Wessex as part of our wider Big Give campaign to support with donations of small electricals and white goods. This refuces the waste going to landfill and also supports the beneficiaries of Faithworks to get themselves set back up in their lives after a period of rehabilitation.
We work closely with British Heart Foundation who are our key charity partner for the Big Give when students donate their end of year clear out to charity. In 2019 over £70,000 was raised, and post pandemic in 2021 £18,000 was raised. For 2022 we hope to help students fundraise to pre-pandemic donation levels. You can find out more about the British Heart Foundation here.
