Hello, my name is Mosope Victor Aderibigbe, and I am standing for the role of Vice President - Welfare and Community.
University should be a time of growth, excitement, and opportunity, yet too many students face barriers that hinder them from fully enjoying their experience. I am dedicated to making Bournemouth University a place where every student feels supported, valued, and empowered.
Mental health and well-being support are top priorities. I will work to increase funding and accessibility for mental health services, ensuring every student has the support they require. Introducing peer support networks will help foster a stronger sense of community. Also, well-being activities such as mindfulness workshops and de-stress events will offer students effective ways to manage stress.
The cost of living and housing remains a significant challenge for many students. I will collaborate with BU and local landlords to improve student housing conditions and affordability. Furthermore, I will campaign for more affordable food options and financial support resources. Expanding awareness of available hardship funds and organising budgeting workshops will assist students in managing their finances more effectively.
Building an inclusive and diverse community is essential. I will enhance support for minority and underrepresented students, ensuring that SUBU promotes cultural celebrations and inclusivity initiatives. I will also advocate for more gender-neutral and accessible facilities across campus, making BU a more welcoming place for all students.
Student safety and campus security must be improved. I will advocate for better night safety measures, including enhanced lighting and campus security patrols. Collaboration with local authorities to ensure safer public transport options will be a key focus. Additionally, I will launch initiatives to educate students on personal safety and consent.
Let’s Build a Stronger, Safer, and More Inclusive BU Together!
