As a dedicated advocate for student empowerment and inclusivity, I present my manifesto for the role of Vice President of Student Opportunities at Bournemouth University. My name is Sabrina and I have always thrived off of democratic policies and campaigning for change, which is why I am looking forward to running for this role. After studying BA Politics with extensive involvement in various societies and as a Student Rep for two years, I am committed to amplifying student voices and fostering a vibrant, inclusive campus community.
The current economic status of the UK means being a student is more expensive than ever. The cost-of-living crisis has impacted people nationwide, yet university students aren’t addressed as much in governmental offices and schemes which is why it is so important to have a student union representative take initiative on this. I will advocate to lower the costs of food on campus and be the voice for the student population to combat this crisis. Simultaneously, free bus transfers between campuses to ensure students can actively participate in their lectures without the worry of bus charges.
I am committed to potentially raising funds for some of the biggest aspects of BU life, such as SportBU. By incorporating more fundraising events and community organisations, I am looking to help maximize the experience gained within society life. By actively reaching out to underrepresented groups, implementing inclusive policies, and creating safe spaces for all students, I aim to ensure that every voice is heard and every student has the chance to thrive:
In Conclusion, As the Vice-President for student opportunities at Bournemouth University, I aim to enhance student experiences by addressing the cost-of-living crisis, introducing affordable food, free bus transfers, promoting women's participation in sports and workshops, and raising societal funding.
