Re-elect Fatima Farha #1 for VP Welfare & Community

My name is Fatima Farha, your current VP Welfare & Community, running for a second term with a focus on continuing to enhance student wellbeing. Here's why you should vote for me.

My journey as a Journalism Master's student, to my work at SUBU as the Asian Arab and Ethnic Minority Part-Time Officer, and then Full-Time Officer informs my understanding of the many challenges faced by home and international students alike.

During my tenure, I have promoted the interests of diverse student groups within the students’ union and within BU’s decision-making committees, launched free sustainable menstrual products, and created exam and dissertation de-stress initiatives. Amid escalated living costs, I’ve worked on practical solutions like free food packages and lobbied for flexible fee installment plans. I've also worked alongside the FTO team to deliver international student welfare programmes like the Buddy Scheme.

I will continue to be the Vice-President supporting your student journey; trust me to continue to bring my experience and determination to the role. I guarantee I will continue to create an open space for you to air your concerns, and transform your concerns into actionable policies for change.

When re-elected I will:

·       Advocate for cost-of-living support initiatives and continue to lobby for affordable and diverse food options.

·       Continue to lobby for specialised front-facing support for international students, ensuring a seamless integration into BU.

·       Continue my period poverty alleviation scheme to provide free sustainable menstrual products for students across campus.

·       Continue to enhance in-person mental health support access for all students, while actively promoting these services.

·       Address housing concerns through a guarantor scheme and ‘Rate Your Landlord’ system.
