Imagine a student experience where education is not just a checkbox, but a transformative journey. That's what I aim to achieve as your VP Education. With an unyielding passion for enhancing the learning environment, I have already made substantial changes as a Student Representative for my program including participating in the revalidation of my course, attending programme meetings, and developing units and assessments. As a proud Malaysian, I bring a unique perspective to the table. I understand the challenges faced by international students and those from minoritised backgrounds. Together, we can ensure that everyone's voice is heard and valued. On top of that, as a member of the Nerve Radio committee, I have been instrumental in making strides forward for the inclusion of more international music, international shows and cultural events to better represent the amazing diversity we have here at Bournemouth University.
If you elect me, here's what I will do:
- Embrace Diversity: I will spearhead educational programs that celebrate our differences, promote inclusivity, and foster a strong sense of belonging. This means integrating cultural competency and inclusivity awareness education for staff and diversifying course materials to provide a multitude of perspectives.
- Prioritise Mental Health: I firmly believe that a healthy mind is the foundation for success. I will advocate for the inclusion of mental health support services within our educational framework. I will raise awareness through impactful campaigns, engaging workshops, and readily available resources for stress management.
- Advocate Access for All: No student should face barriers on their academic journey. I will work tirelessly to improve accessibility across campus, ensuring that every student, regardless of ability, has equal opportunities to thrive. I want to build a community where everyone can fully participate, contribute, and excel.
