Running for the position of Vice President Welfare and Community, I'm Godswill Daniel, driven by the belief that our student union plays a vital role in addressing pressing concerns such as escalating living expense effects on students, academic enhancement, campus engagement, and overall student well-being. By fostering a supportive environment and bridging the gap between Talbot and Lansdowne, we can cultivate inclusivity, teamwork, and a vibrant university community.
My campaign focuses on three crucial initiatives:
Firstly, I aim to boost overall class attendance by 10% within the upcoming academic year. Recognizing the pivotal role attendance plays in academic success and well-being, I propose implementing incentive programs. By rewarding consistent attendance with redeemable points for marks, meal discounts, bookstore vouchers, or other campus services, we can enhance student motivation and participation.
Secondly, I strive to increase cross-campus participation in events and activities by 20%. Collaboration is key to overcoming campus divides and fostering a cohesive community. To achieve this, I propose organizing joint events and activities with faculties, student organizations, clubs, and societies. By hosting at least one joint event a semester, we can create opportunities for students from both campuses to come together, enriching their university experience.
Lastly, I aim to enhance student well-being. Rising living costs pose a significant challenge to students' lifestyles and academic performance. To address this, I plan to improve existing food support programs and with support from the university, establish a guarantee scheme for students, easing the burden of securing accommodation.
As your Vice President Welfare and Community, I am committed to realizing these initiatives and creating a more supportive, inclusive, and vibrant university community. I humbly ask for your support and vote in the upcoming elections. There is something about Bournemouth University, let's discover it. Vote Godswill Daniel.
