I am Jeffery Ononiwu, a master's student from the faculty of Media and Communication. I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the Vice President Careers and Student Opportunities office in the upcoming full-time officer's election. My vision is to foster a university community marked by diversity, inclusivity, and collaboration, ensuring that every student has access to opportunities for personal and professional growth.
To bring this vision to life, I have developed three key programs:
1. All Society and Club Achievement Award: This annual event aims to recognize and celebrate the achievements of club and society members from diverse backgrounds and interests. By promoting unity and appreciation among students, this initiative seeks to strengthen our sense of community. We intend to create a Wall of Fame webpage to celebrate these exceptional achievements.
2. The Internship and Job Opportunities Program: Through establishing partnerships with companies, this program aims to provide students with valuable work experience. Recognizing the importance of practical skills, thereby preparing students for the challenges and opportunities in the future job market.
3. Revitalization of TEDx Bournemouth: I propose bringing back TEDx Bournemouth with a unique twist. While TEDx events have disseminated valuable knowledge globally, revitalizing this platform at our university will not only feature external speakers but also provide students with an opportunity to share their insights, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge-sharing within our student community.
