Taking action, getting results- vote Valeria for VP Student Opportunities!

Hi! I am a second-year Psychology student from Moldova and my degree itself serves as good preparation for the Full-Time Officer role. Studying about people, communicating and working with them allowed me to create a detailed mental image of the Vice-President Student Opportunities you need, and I will explain why I am a great candidate for it!

This position requires compassionate, reflecting and organised leadership which I acquired through my role as Women’s Officer: 5 events, 2 projects and 1 campaign- all in 4 months! Also, great communication skills are a must which I acquired as a committee member in 2 societies: African Caribbean Society (ACS) and Psychology Society. Last but not least, this position requires knowledge and awareness of the work of BU and SUBU which I gained as a Student Ambassador, PAL Leader and Student Rep.

If elected, I will work on the following:

  1. Create a SUBU app to easily access information about events and opportunities.

Tired of missing out on events? Let’s make your life easier with a SUBU app that will notify you of society and sports events, volunteering opportunities, student fairs and so on!

  1. Improve equality, diversity and inclusion within sports teams and societies.

Some students are less likely to join sports teams and societies due to fear of not being accepted or welcomed. Appointed inclusion officers, additional training on equality, diversity and inclusion and new societies will improve students’ experience with SUBU.

  1. Work closely with Careers BU to increase the number of paid work opportunities.

57% of students said they would like additional placement support. So, I will collaborate with local and national organisations to create more part-time jobs, paid internships, placement opportunities and networking events.
