Dear voter,
I am running for Vice-President of Welfare and Community because I know how challenging university can be and when searching for support you may not always see it. I’m here to help you find it.
- SUBU offers a wide range of student services and advise, but in 2021 there was a reduced student engagement with SUBU due to lack of awareness. To tackle this, I propose increased promotion of student services so more students can benefit from them.
-
I will advocate for a higher SUBU presence on Lansdowne campus, so services are equally available to the 4400 students that study there and 5750 students that live there.
-
I will endorse the continuation of SUBUs focus to make BU an inclusive, diverse, and ethical community that is accessible and welcoming to all.
-
Students should feel comfortable and appreciated in all areas of SUBU and the university, to achieve this student wellbeing, mental health and inclusivity will be utmost priority.
I have previous experience within SUBU from being a student rep for my course (Sociology and social Anthropology) in 2020/2021. This allowed me to further my communication skills by representing my fellow course mates on a number of different levels including welfare and community issues.
Furthermore, coming from a social science background I have a tailored set of social skills and subject knowledge that would benefit my role of Welfare and Community FTO.
I am a fair, understanding, and open-minded person but am also determined and strong willed. I am not afraid of obstacles or challenges and if I am elected will be persistent in fighting for the change you want to see!
