is here!
This April celebrate the cultures, heritage and history of Asia, the Arab world and other ethnic minorities with us this Asian, Arab & Ethnic Minority History Month. We will be doing this through a number of events throughout April so be sure to check below to find out what is going on!
What is Asian, Arab and Ethnic Minority History Month?
Here at SUBU we work to celebrate the diversity of our student community through our Liberaiton Networks and their relevant History Months. Unfortunately there isn't a national month recognising the impact of this community on the UK and the world and so we have given April as a time to spotlight this. There are other national months which recognise parts of the community such as South Asian Heritage Month in September but we want to make sure the breadth of this community is recognised. April has often in the past been when Ramadan has been observed as well.
What is SUBU doing to mark the month?
We have a few events going on this month that members of the AAEM community and thier allies can get involved with and enjoy. Just check the events below and grab your ticket where needed
What about the rest of the year?
At SUBU, we know that while Asian, Arab and Ethnic Minority History Month is a time where the spotlight is on the AAEM community and their invaluable contributions to history, past and present, it is important to empower and champion our AAEM students all year round and to be an active ally to them too.
This is where the AAEM Network comes in! Whether you are a part of the AAEM community at BU or are an ally you can easily be kept up to date by self-defining with the network below
