Ringwood Town overcame Petersfield Town 2-0 in their second game back from lockdown, with goals from captain Ryan Osman and Harrison Clark.

The Hornets are now up to 9th in the table after a round-trip of 120 miles. Ringwood earned a comfortable win away from home and remain unbeaten since the resumption of non-league last weekend.

The border town side are in the middle of a run of four straight away games but being on the road has not affected the Ringwood side.

The SureFix Home Improvement Stadium hosted the game on a night Ringwood manager Richard Morse described as a “long cold Tuesday night,” but his side remained unfazed by the long trip and cold conditions.

After a first-half that saw few chances, Ringwood took the lead through a penalty after some good play from Harrison Fay. The midfielder dribbled his way into the box and was brought down on 54 minutes, giving captain Osman the opportunity to convert from the spot.

The Ringwood captain stepped up to rifle the ball home for his second in as many games, following his wonder strike last time out against East Cowes Victoria.

Another strong away performance was confirmed when Harrison Clark blasted the ball home from 18 yards 21 minutes from time. Clark picked up the ball on the edge of the box after Petersfield were unable to clear their lines from a Ringwood corner and drove the ball home for his side’s second of the match.

Ringwood started the game in 13th place and victory in Petersfield has seen the side leap into the top half of the table and manager Morse was pleased with his side’s performance.

He said: “The lads played really well on a long cold Tuesday night. All in all a good solid performance.”

Morse’s side now face Whitchurch United this Saturday at Longmeadow and will be looking to keep this fine run of form going. Whitchurch sit 16th having lost six of their nine games so far this season, and The Hornets will be looking for back to back wins as they attempt to climb the table.
